    Holley 5200 vs Weber

holley 5200 is a copy of a weber DFAV. the DFAV is the mirror image of a DGAV(which is the 32/36 that gets sold in all the kits). basically it's the same carb with the primary and secondary barrels reversed. tends to work best on engines with the intake on the right hand side(like a pinto)...

    22r head replacment

i call BS on that one, unless your torque wrench is a piece of **** or you used a junk gasket.

    22r head replacment

i really wish people would stop spreading down that hearsay BS around...a 20R head doesn't crank up your compression. here's my advise for doing this job. clean, clean clean! you want the deck of the block and the underside of the head as clean as you can get. i like using a rigid blade...

Auto Parts - OEM or Parts Store?

i usually hit the parts slinger except for head gaskets, generally i go to the dealer for those. of course, there's the dealer-only parts too.

    Weber on 20R Q

ditto. i've got more money into my 22RE and it's a turd compared to the old school 20/22 in my yellow truck... i did a little looking into megasquirt as well as SDS and several other standalone EFI systems. mainly because i wanted to be different, not necessarily the most practical. out of...

    Weber on 20R Q

i have a weber on my 20/22 motor and it works just fine. the stock carb was a worthless untunable POS that ran leaner than **** for my engine.

    Question for IceHawk

it's a year specific thing. earlier trucks used a steel bearing hub with a replaceable bearing that you pressed on, and had 2 cheesy clips that hold everything on the fork. the later ones(late 80s and beyond i think) had the unit bearing with an integral wire clip and polymer hub. the whole...

    20R oil pressure Q

they don't take a lot of pressure to keep alive, probably one of the reasons they last so long. i'd like to say mine with 300,000 miles on it idled at around 5-10 depending on the temp, and went between 60-80 under load.

    Shop tools vs trail tools.

i've got a box of miscellaneous tools in my yellow bucket. i've found that even in my own driveway(parents garage is full of mom's junk) the most useful tools i have are a crescent wrench, hammer, punch, screwdriver and a socket set.

    Aftermarket Toy Ignition

the toy modules are pretty reliable, easiest route is from the junkyard. other than that, there's all the aftermarket ones, i wouldn't shell out $300 on a factory box when you could have MSD...

Ever broken a stock PASSENGER side toy steering arm?

i don't think it's a real common break. where did it break at, the kingpin part or the main part of the arm?

    Pitman Arm?

where did you see me say i used it on the pitman arm? i just popped that off with a mallet.

    Early toyota fuel injection

no factory EFI will work on a 20R head, bolt patterns and ports are different. '83 was the first year of available EFI on celicas, they used an analog, fuel only fuel injection system. easy to identify, it has the older rounded valve cover and a vacuum advance distributor like a carbed 22R...

    Pitman Arm?

i use antisieze on my splines -- keeps things from sticking, but since its still an interference fit i've never had it come loose. the tool i bought from harbor freight is too damn big to pull tie rod ends or my pitman arm...just grabs the very outer edge. and their pickle forks are worthless...

    Detroit E-z Locker?

i don't see why people hate them in the rear so much, mine is pretty transparent in the '79. parking lots kinda suck but they always have with the long ass wheelbase, steering needing an alignment and the ps not hooked up anyway.

chain rattling noise coming from 20r@2300 rpms

i wouldn't worry about a 20R's guides or chains -- it's a double chain setup with steel guides, they can slap for decades with no problem. my 20/22R hybrid makes a wierd "buzz" at about 2000RPMs. i never have figured out what it is.

    Toyota clutch? Kevlar or OEM?

i don't think marlin sells a kevlar clutch. they DO sell a ceramic one, i've heard it's not recommended for street use since it's really like an on/off switch. haven't heard any complaints about the standard version. i run cheap $60 exedy clutches from ebay, they work very well.
