I've got one of those 'booty-fab special' pipe benders..... thats what I'll be using on the wife's scout  Bring that dang truck over here and we'll have a wrenching session on it. I got the garage cleaned out right now, but you better hurry.....

This VS. That Vs. The Other Thing...

Make sure you know what your doing if you install a lockright, ect, by yourself. And try not to buy used... I just paid for the lesson, Now I'm gunna weld mine up....

    Bumper Advice.

If you'd ever bring it by, I'd give you a few ideas. And I have a couple ideas that will work to bend it around like you want... BTW...Going to Ethyl this sunday for the races...

    Is this a good thing?

Thats what I'll do. clean them up a little and grease the outer stuff, then deal with it when I when I find a locker for the front. Thanks everyone for the advise. pretty much what I thought.

    Is this a good thing?

:haha: that was the label for that HiPo chrome cover, still had the writing on it till I shot it with brake cleaner to clean the oil off. :haha:

    Is this a good thing?

axle seals will get replaced, along with at least a good greasing (If not new bearings, that depends on funds) It does have a breather on it, Hopefully it will get extended upwards pretty soon!

    Is this a good thing?

Yep thats my next project, cleaning and inspecting the outer ends of the axles. Fortunatley its getting kinda limited use right now and BTW I'm never lucky like that! :haha: I'm sure this one sat for a while before I got it. the PO did a bunch of stuff to it, but it seems like he never used it...

    Is this a good thing?

Or is it time for a rebuild? Front axle on my CJ, I opened it up to change the fluid and found this... Doesn't look like it's into the bearings too bad yet. I'll have to wait to rebuild it (and throw a locker in it) until the cash flow starts up again, if thats what it needs.

    Got my flares on

OH and by the way, while we were out shooting pics and testing the Jeep, We managed to run into a couple trying to toss a truckload of garbage out of their truck into this play area. SO we confronted them, asking if they were going to dump all that trash. Of course the answer was 'OH NO we pick...

    Got my flares on

After consulting with a few of you, (especially 2pwrlftrs4u, who I bugged tremendously!) I managed to get the TJ flares installed on the rear of the Jeep. Made a BIG difference in stuff & flex-ability! Now I need to re-do the fronts, cause they still hit the rear section of fender (Hmm...tube...

    think this is patchable??

In the sidewall? I wouldn't mess with it. wheeling will put mucho stress on any repair, no matter how well done, and it'll leave ya stranded just when you least want to be. Buy them, and then buy 1 new one to complete the set. You'll be much better off! EDIT: those don't look even close to...

got a tilt column for the CJ

Now the wife thinks she will get to drive it! :wtf: Where are the links to help me install this thing into a '74 CJ-5? I think its out of a mid-80's chevy camaro.

    Cj winch mount

yea, thats another reason I hadn't considered. So, over the rails it is. (UUMM, I just mounted that winch on my car hauler trailer.....now I gotta buy another one, or fix the 6K one I bought a while ago) OOPs!

    Cj winch mount

I found the pics I snapped of the bumper when I was mocking it up. This is as close as I can go without taking out the crossmember. I can't see taking it out when the P/S box is right under it, and in the way. I don't have the capability to trim the crossmember and mount to clear the box...

    1/2" drill talk

I know the Craftsman drills I've bought over the years have been pretty good, but I always seem to strip the gears out of them eventually. The one I have now I think I actually broke the case on it when the bit grabbed. hasn't worked good since. Nice timing on this thread, I'll have to replace...

    Cj winch mount

Yea, My Power Steering box is in the way to do it like yours. Makes the winch stick out way to far for my tastes. I'll have to figure out something later, after I can get the Jeep back in the garage. Dang it, it started raining before I could get the new hitch on the car trailer (complete with a...

    Cj winch mount

Do you have any better pics? I believe we are onto the same idea. I wasn't crazy about how far it was sticking out from the front. I still have lots of breakover angle, just wasn't sure about the design.

    Cj winch mount

On this Jeep, the front crossmember is covering the power steering box. Anyone see a problem with removing that cheep bumper and mounting a winch plate in front of the crossmember, and inside the frame ears. Basically sink it into the frame in front of the crossmember. What I am thinking is...

My first projects for the CJ-5

well, it already has a shackle reversal on it, and I don't want to lengthen the wheelbase. I bought it cause I like the short wheelbase. The wife and I went back and forth for years about what to get, since she can't even get in a flattie on the driver's side (too tall). I finally won against...
