Hell yeah, whatever it takes.

Here's a shot of the under carriage with and without the Goatbuilt skids.

Matt

I had some aluminum pucks made that are the same dimensions as poly bushings for building the mounts. They made life much easier not worrying about melting the bushing or having to assemble/disassemble them multiple times. Might look into something similar if you foresee having to do more poly mounts in the future.

Thanks Jduck. I've been meaning to make/or order some of those for some time. I never think of it till it's too late.

The cradle on the bushing sleeve was welded on the table, the whole assembly is just hard tacked so far. I can remove it from the trans and fully weld on the table. Should be the last one on this truck......I think..

Minor progress today, yet time consuming. New ram mounted with the Goatbuilt assembly. Nice piece...

Making some progress this week.

-Finished the tie rod ends, and trimmed the fenders for full lock at full stuff. 40° steering. Will still need to be some trimming at full articulation.

-shop was so trashed I couldn't even think. So spent about 4 hours into the wee hours this morning getting back to clean and organized. Took a few pics of the truck down and rolling...needed the motivation.

-today I took a break from tube work to mix it up with some plate...which I enjoy. Got started on the winch mount. Will try to have the winch and bumper finished thru tomorrow. Then get back to finish the tubing.

Thanks Luke. Do it...

When I only have limited shop time I try to complete small tasks to feel like I accomplished something.

Finished the d-ring tow points on the front bumper. They also serve as bumper attachment. There will be two more bumper supports near the center as well as secondary tubes out at the ends.

I feel like I'm watching a show car build. This things is a work of art. What colors are you thinking about for it?
Thanks guys.

June, my original intent of this build is as a sleeper, wait...no..a resto-rock-rod, no its a door slammer..., no no no its a rock crawler,...hell no...it's a baby TT...., I know..I know...ultra 4 race car..., street legal weekend warrior.....hell no its a 4wd pre runner...

Sorry, the voices in my head can't decide what it wants to be when it grows up...pretty much inspired by all of the above.

But at this point, I don't intend to paint....anything. a good wet sanding and rubbing compound on the old patina looks great to me, less hair pulling when i wrap it around a rock... plus, I don't mind the resto roddish look. But the, tubing and chassis will not be painted either. Everything is getting scotch brite rub down, then a once over with a stainless wire cup wheel, and a product called Sharkhide, here's a link http://www.sharkhide.com/mpinfo.html. been talking to a couple racers and Desert folks, this is how they leave they're chassis bare. Mavcoat is another brand. You can weld through and they're both paint safe.

I'm going to give that a try, if I see is too much trouble in up keep, the chassis will get painted. But the body probably won't change. I've already secured two more sets of doors, fenders, and hoods, from the same year model cherokee/ manche, with matching patina...now, the bedsides will be much more difficult to find.

This is pretty much the train of thought that brought me to where I'm at with my waggy.... My fab isn't nearly as good as yours, but it's good to know I'm not the only one who wants a solid axle trophy truck ;D

Yes I should have said a baby Budget TT, lol. Fab is fab, as long as it's safe, and your enjoying what your doing, learning as you go.

Thanks for following.
