Any FJ Cruiser owners/wheelers out there?

Re: Re: Any FJ Cruiser owners/wheelers out there?

Post your truck on CL and I bet is gone before the weekend. Trucks like yours are crazy as hell high. I got lucky and found one on CL close with no pictures posted, got lucky it was just what I was looking for and bought it. Hell I'd be driving your truck if you would have been willing a couple months ago.

I know it man! The thing is I'm in no way obligated to sell it, so if it doesn't sell I'll still be happy with it. But if I wanted then what I want now, I'd have made a deal with you! I looked for what I could replace it for when we were talking about it, and I couldn't find any damn thing I liked for the same money. Everything is sky high right now. But I didn't even think about the FJ then! Kinda kicking myself now! I can do that ya know....because my leg comes off. :flipoff1:

LOL I was wondering how long it would take for one of you fawkers to catch that. She has potential to stay around for a while, and if she stays around long enough, Kid(s) will definitely be in order, but no damn time soon, I'm good at pulling out. Fawk trusting birth control! :flipoff1:

His name actually came from a prison stint he did years ago. They have metal toilets in the pen, and the prison food he received gave him diarrhea, so when he ****, he would blow mudd in metal.....duh.

The ole lady got hers, now time to find mine!

This should be in five years addendum to this post. Find a third row seat vehicle you can tolerate now. It's coming. If Tyler's Lexus is all that and a bag of chips, I may sell my minivan and help him move onto his next vehicle. I have too many vehicles, but the van is the only one I could part with. Your girls ride is still cool. Add one kid and a thousand mile trip and you'll totally understand.

Re:

No 1000 miles trips here. Furthest I go is the 4.5 hr drive to the casino, maybe a 6 hour drive to the beach....very very rarely. Lol still got a loooong time before 3rd row is needed. I looked at two fj's yesterday, I can tell one thing I do not like is the amount of black plastic on them. Nothing wrong with it at all until someone doesnt take care of it, it fades, and then looks like cheap ****.

The one I was working was a 07 or 08, the guy did nothing to it but drive it and maybe run it through the auto wash once every 6 months. The plastic seemed to be in really good shape. I haven't seen one that made me go "what the hell is up with his bumpers", so Im guessing they hold up pretty well? Alot of the time when I see jacked up plastic its cause someone was waxing the plastic or trying to take care of it with the wrong ****.

Re:

Thats what one of these looked like! Had white wax **** all over it. But the front bumper was faded too.

Haha I was just ready to eat and get home.

You could buy a cheaper trail rig that is built and ready to ride for what bumpers/winch/tires would cost for the FJ Cruiser.

I could def buy a mildly built Cherokee, but don't want to go that route because it will be right back where I started...the process never ends with an actual trail rig. I just wouldn't mind having a nice main vehicle that could also be good at cruising around the main trails at places like Choccolocco, Hawk Pride, Stoney, etc. Just for the occasional booze cruise with buddies. My biggest concern is doing without a truck bed. Like today, I rebuilt the ramp at my house (it's just easier to walk up carrying groceries, than the 4 steps that's there). So I went to lowes, threw all the wood in the back, and on my happy way.

I'm sure you all are well aware of the benefits of a truck bed. I have a 6x12 trailer, so I'm just trying to weigh it all out to be certain I would be happy with an fj.

I still love my truck and it's been the most dependable truck I've probably ever owned....but I've had it over 4 yrs now and that seems to be about the time period for me to get burnt out on things like I did with crawling after about 5 yrs, so I guess it's just kinda lost it's luster. I would hate to sell it, buy an FJ and regret it....because the minute I got the feeling I missed the truck and that the FJ just isn't as suitable for me as I expected, then the whole deal will start over with trying to sell it and find another dependable truck.

Found a few FJ's with right on 100k miles for $13-14k, so I should be able to pocket a couple grand after selling my truck, so I'm looking at that as a benefit of the transition too. I'm finally at the age where I'm constantly motivated to grow my savings account. Improved fuel mileage will also come with an FJ. 11mpg's fawking sucks when you really don't have a need for a 3/4 ton truck anymore. Never bothered me before when I had a trailer to pull, because it was serving a purpose. Was looking on Craigslist tonight at Tundras and 07+half ton silverados/sierras too. Idk, I'm really on the fence. In no hurry, so I have plenty time to think it over.

How about just lite wheelin the truck you have now?

Yeah it's long, but the overhangs aren't bad, and the frame hangs down low enough to protect the underbelly.

It'll get scratched up but that's part of it... Maybe spend a couple hundo and plasti dip the sides before you try it out.?

Re:

I would lose my damn mind driving it on the trail. Its too nice a truck for one, but that heavy ass suspension! ****! Lol i rode in Pipers Wrangler at Morris Mtn one time amd it seemed pretty rough riding to me, my 3/4 ton would be straight turrible lol.

We thought we saw you at Stony this weekend. We figured purple wasn't your color, but damn did he look similar.
