ring postioning

anyone have a diagram or know the layout on where the gaps go on the pistion for the rings.

Space the top two compression rings 180* from each other and the oil ring 180* from bottom compression ring.

I bought a datsun motor years ago that had been "rebuilt". Threw that baby in and it smoked like a banshee. Sent it to a buddy for a real rebuild, and the first guy had lined up all the gaps.

Like DHR said 180 out :awesomework: when we did Dr. Turbos 22ReT the rebuild kit had no instructions as far as gap placement so we did the same but checked the gap before install

just make sure the gaps are not in the high wear area. have the gaps to the front and back of the engine not side to side.

Whats strange is they MOVE. That diagram is tits on. But I can't tell you how many motors I have torn down with one or more in all kinds of bad places but ran fine with no smoke.

yea im doing a bunch to it,ive been in school for a year so i havent had time for anything but its getting time.
ive got the head on now trying to remember how to do the timeing chain

Toyota chains are OPPOSITE of chevys.
