I agree with Adam, they are over valued garbage... everyone except vw makes a more reliable 4 banger. 22Rs are simple and that counts for something, but anyone with an option to go 4.3 would be craxy not to. A stock 4.3 vortec makes 2x the hp of a built 22r on pane

Usually after 200k miles....

But yeah, I've never had a 22r that didn't blow up on me

ive owned 3 22r an all 3 of em lost the #4 rod out the side of the block.. they are simple little motors though
 
I've blown 2 head gaskets different motors
Slung #1 rod knocked for 8 months
I've had 5 of these motors!
I had one 1998 2.7 3rz with 200k+ Treated it the same way as the others didn't have any problems! It lived on the limiter! But could lug to 1500 and recover just from hitting the gas! A 22r,re,tre will not do that!
