thought I would share my subaru build with you guys

started out with a 87 Red 4 door sedan 2WD
dropped the entire running gear out

will be adding a Nissan 720 transfercase and straight axle rearend

so power will go threw the stock Subaru transaxle which has a Low range of 1.59:1 ratio , then into the Nissan T-case guessing thats a 2.2:1 ratio not sure , then to the rear axle its a 4.3:1 ratio now thats a guess to then onto 31" tires may not seem much to you guys but its way better then stock setup which has a 22:1 crawl Ratio on 23" tires , Ive wheeled Subarus the last few years and the week spot is the rear axles and rear diff stub shafts, also the front end lower radius rods, also no low gears ,
I will be fabbing my own fron bottom Aarms which should help, and with a Pickup rearend should stop snapping axles

This is a Subaru rear diff stuck in the front , normally the Axles would go into the transaxle

Aren't you going to have to plug the old front axleshaft holes on the transaxle?
those are splined stubs on the older subarus , so no, also the diff is a rear diff turned around and mounted up front :bananadance:

Ah, ok, I was thinking like most fwds, you pull the axles and it spews gear lube everywhere. I get the concept of what you're doing. I like seeing out of the ordinary builds like this. (maybe it's not out of the ordinary for subi guys, but it is to me.) :redneck: Keep up the good work. :awesomework:

so 4.30's in the back...? mayby...? what ratio's in the new front diff? (old rear)

picked up a toyota Tacoma rearend wonding what driveline I should use for this, would need a slider and what flange that thing is, the toyota is 60-1/2" wide and the subaru is 60" , the datsun was too narrow and wrong ratio so its out

OK decided which direction to go,Toyota 86 4runner 4x4 tranny with transfercase , checked it out tonight

just need to make up a bell housing to mate the engine to the tranny

Heres the Subaru clutch disc next to the Toyota one, the Toyota one has a bigger hole with more splines , subarus on the right, also the subby preasure plate has a larger throwout bearing and hole
subbie center bearing slipped onto the Toyota pilot same size...
