So I am going to be putting dual cases and a new clutch in my Runner this weekend. I have heard that my flywheel needs to be stepped when I have it turned?

Can anyone give me more info on this and specs?

Just go to your local parts store and get a reman they are about $40 bucks and they come with a new ring gear and dowls:awesomework:

I just ordered a NEW one... $80 bucks, no core charge, ring gear installed. It was $40 to get the old one turned, $70 for a Reman unit w/ a $40 core charge, or $80 for a new one.

Wow. I think Highway Auto (obviously not local for you though) only charges $20 or so to machine a flywheel. And they look up the specs for the step in their book (20 thousandths IIRC) before they do it. It's not a big deal, and any reputable machine shop should have that information readily available.

is it cool if i throw my dual cases in without even touching the transmission, flywheel, etc? my clutch holds fine.. the throwout bearing sounds like ****, but ill run it till it blows.
