Caught my first tuna yesterday out of Westport...:cheer:

31 lbs... Holy **** these ****ers put up a fight!!! Fought this one for 45 minutes... Also caught some seabass...

Seas were rough, so we didn't get the numbers we would have liked... But hey, that's fishing...

Spent two nights/days 60 miles out in rough seas... Never done that before... Been out off the coast for the day fishing salmon and bottom fish before, but nothing like this...

Still have my sea legs and a bit sleep deprived, but the cold beer should knock my ass out soon enough...

Went out on The Ranger with Capt. Don and the crew... They book out of Ocean Sportfishing Charters...

Tuna fishing is a hoot. Its like tossing your line out on a passing car and holding on. The guy we went out with (several years ago) would find a school of tuna and then get ahead of them and turn around and go at them head on. Dang things would empty a reel that is so tight that you cant pull line out with your hand.

Here's a video of the boat that I was on, with Capt. Don explaining everything... This is the video he has playing at his booth at the sportsman show...

Here's another video of them... Even if someone brought a video camera we couldn't have gotten any video, the seas were to rough...

If you've never been out in the ocean fishing, not talking about the sound, I would recommend booking a bottom fish trip... It's a blast, the last bottom trip I was on we brought in 290 seabass... That's right, 290...

We saw a Humpback Whale and a couple schools of Dolphin as well...

Here's the pricing...

Just remember that the deck hands work for tips(only tips)... I tip $20 for them to split(there's two of them)... If I bring my boys, I'll tip $20 from each of us... I've met a few so far and they have all been very helpful and made our trip great... This is based on a day trip... For tuna it's a $100 tip per fisherman for them to split...

I would suggest the bottom fishing trip... Lots of fun and affordable... It gives everyone a chance to test out their sea legs...

Totally different than being in the Puget Sound...

You don't have to have any gear, they provide it... The deck hands rig everything up and clean/fillet your fish on the way back in... All you need is a lunch and fishing license... Just pack a cooler with some drinks and food, then have a great day on the ocean...

Nice Job.....

Spent last weekend fishing for Tuna out of Illwaco on Sat. and Westport for Salmon, Ling cod and Rock fish on Sun.

We ended up with 8 tuna for 8 guys. The seas were so rough on Sat. it made for some very difficult fishing. The wind was blowing with gust of 25mph with 6-8ft roolers 3 seconds apart :puke:
But Sun. was a different story. We limited on every thing but only got 2 kings, and the lings were 10-15lbs :awesomework:

Here's a few Pic.

On our way home. Awesome trip we only got13 tuna I guess its a slow year. The sea was very rough the first night I was catching air in my bunk , we were on a 65ft boat. Next trip will be for bigger game fish for sure. Sorry no pics forgot the camera.

If you like fishing and haven't been tuna I highly recomend it.:cheer:

They are pulling 100+ tuna per trip right now... The warm weather brought the fish, but the weather will turn pretty soon and it'll be over til next year...

I really want to get out on a halibut trip...
