trails disscusion

This is why I feel strongly about joining a club that you fit into or at least becoming a member of the PNW4WDA. Now I understand that there are alot of badasses on this board that are way too good for clubs but..... consider the good that clubs and organizations do for the wheeling community as a whole. As much as you don't want to admit to being part of something, you are a part of the wheeling community and your actions affect us as well as our actions affect you. I was raised in a club environment and as such have always packed out more trash than the sum of what I took in, have been careful not to tear up the land and have tried to talk with the badass loners out there that feel that they have to answer to noone. Like has been said elsewhere in this thread- Get out and do your part! We can work together and keep the trails we have and maybe even get some new ones if we all work together instead of bickering on the internet.

Oh- And for those badass loners out there that do their part without being a part of something.... Good on ya! :cheer: :awesomework:

Your right about the club thing. I have stayed out of the club thing simply because I can not devote the time at this time in my life, but that said I will join one some day down the road. :awesomework:

Up till recently I have never found a "club" that i fit into. I drive a pathfinder for gods sake. This site is pretty good but its not a "club".
90% of all clubs out there are "jeep" clubs or "toyota" clubs. I don't do brand specific wheeling. And yes, I have been turned down for wheeling trips cause "you don't own a jeep".

so, for the most part i'm on my own, do my own thing. I educate my own (friends and family). So, to me i am doing my part.

so.. this thread is dying.

What would you guys say is the biggest problem our trails face?

For me, its litter and rubbish.. Man am i tired of picking up other peoples crap

Come up here, we aren't discriminatory.

You are somewhat misinformed...garbage is not the real issue as it doesn't cause resource damage, meaning damage to trees and in most cases it is not dumped in rivers or lakes either. At least on DNR land.

The big issue is resource damage caused by...

People not staying on the trail

agreed, over all that is the big problem.
But the one that i constantly deal with (cause its somethign that i can help with) is the rubbish

I've never understood that **** :eeek:

The group I run with is 99% Jeeps but if you have a SWB Toy Zuk ect we welcome new comers. We are not a club however. Most of the guys I run with are 50 years old + I prefer the older crowd on the trail they keep their heads on straight.

see what i mean... we will let you run.. but only if you are SWB..

might as well be "jeep" only

This is our #1 biggest battle....

And from what has been happening up at reiter--its going to really screw us....

getting bad up there crash?

Thats just stupid. I'll admit i've been off trails before, not really intentionally but it has happened. And only as a last resort.

I hope to go up to reiter this weekend

Ya--it really is.

People are plowing new trails--and quickly folks are making new routes thru the new trails.--turning into a huge mess. The DNR is going to really look close at this and its going to hurt us way more than people think.. I can guess that 75% of the trails we normaly run will be killed---this mostly being due to resource damage....

Don't forget the guys running small tires spinning on every obstacle till the rim catches fire.
