Walker Valley Jeep Cross excavation / reroute

so whats the word Jacob?? time is only getting shorter and shorter, any ideas out there? have you heard from the Whidbey Island guys?

charlie did you talk to DNR, what did you find out?

kevin how is paypal coming along?

should we postpone this weekend until next weekend to give us another week to gather funds??????????????????
No word from the Whidbey folks that I am aware of yet...I have a message into DNR, waiting to hear back....I'm working on the paypal thing, but have run into a minor setback with obtaining the needed info---soonest this could be up will be wednesday.....I'm working on it!!!
heh its only monday =P things are moving, hopefully have more by tomorrow.
Yes, it's only Monday, but when tomorrow arrives and leaves, that only leaves 2 days to get everything lined up for friday delivery....:eeek: :yikes:

Sorry guys, I have thought about it, and I am not going to be able to make it.:booo: I hope all goes well.:awesomework: Take lots of pictures (videos would be even cooler!) for us who cannot attend!:cheer:

Completely understandable Jacob :awesomework:...School is an important thing....Best of luck to ya!!! :awesomework:

I am also confused by the ***le of this thread. I looked all over my map provided by DNR and I could not find a "Jeep Cross" I am so confused....:eeek:

Yeah, being resourceful does help....Charlie, per the conversation we all had, it was determined an 8k would probably work, but a 10K or 12K would do the job ALOT easier, and I think the goal to raise enough $$ for these sizes is reachable..... with that said we all agreed a much larger machine would be alot more efficient, but the costs involved and the timeframe may end up negating that large of machine....Jakob, what are your thoughts based on your last post??? How are you proposing to raise that kind of $ that quickly??? We'd all like to hear your ideas...:corn:

Would we need two machines or would one do it?

Well, two-even three (one on trail, one at landing loading rock going on trail, and one at the pit...) would be great as I am still under the understanding that there's more 3 or 4 man rock he'd (Jakob) like to be brought to the landing...how much I am not sure. One would allow us to be able to at least get working on the reroute...but it won't be very efficient, because I can see the machine having to move down to load you up let's say-then having to walk back to the work site on trail, and unload you...etc....

Would we need two machines or would one do it?

for the money per hour to ft of trail to do
2 will be cheaper pr ft
1 loading what ever is going to haul them up the hill and one placing them and doing clean up/ water bars

kevin i am with you on the days we are running out of time to come up with money

binder 2 would go by so much easier like kevin said having one in the the pit and one at the trail but if we can only get one that one would be better than nothing at all

kevin i have a paypal set up already we can use, i just had some guys transfer money to me last week so i could pick up lockers for them

I may be able to scrape together a excavator with a thumb maybe free or at least cheap. Let me see what I can come up with.....

What size? Sounds like we can secure a 10.5K thru DNR for the weekend for the actual trail work...as for the landing work/rock loading & hauling , an 8K at each end would work (bigger wouldn't be a bad thing though!:redneck:)...Let us know!!! Thanks!!!

for working at the rock pits anything with a thumb that can lift 3 man plus rock will work great backhoe tractor excavator lets not limit ourselves to an excavator for loading rock into the trailers just a thumb with a good (high) load limit

Well i got a price on a 12K but it looks like Kevin is thinking more along the lines of the 10.5K getting it through DNR's supplier

12K through my buddys at Ahern Rentals is 225 FYI

I asked about a 10k-12k with a thumb and the salesman said something about a 120 which is a bit bigger, he's going to call me back......I'm fairly sure we will get one if there's one available. Getting things cheap/ free means getting what's not rented out at the time. Beggers can't be choosers. If I do get one they will deliver it Friday which means I may have to camp/ babysit it over night as I don't want it vandalized.....IF this turns out to be the case who wants to camp?

they are not hard to use and once your in there you learn quick i have a 20k i have been working on and driving every day for the past week i just removed the track on it today to replace the drive sprocket

i am not a seasoned operator but it is fairly easy the only thing that i would be questionable about is working it on the hill being worried about tiping it.. yeah i guess thats the major reason to have an operator lol
