Keeping up w/ what?.....wtf heavy loads aren't they keeping up w/???

I've never, ever........seen that to be an issue....

for a 'wheelin' battery, I'd suggest nothing but yellow tops, unless you've got big $$$ for the 'hawkers' or whatever they're called.
My wording was not thourough enough, but Semitrkdrvr covered the siruation to the T. Just an ovservation, if the Yellows were the shiat I would be running them bottom line. Run what you like its your money.

Optimas are 20% off at GI Joes this week. I think I paid around $250 for two yellow tops when I got them for the Mog.

:awesomework:

So I replaced the one battery back when this thread was started. So my other one was getting weak--so one friday I grabbed another one with the intension of swapping it out when I got to evans. So I swap it out saturday morning--click the switch to that battery--nothing--no a single volt. So I thought maybe it was just dead--so I ran both batteries and sunday moring--the rig was stone dead.. The brand new battery is a pile of junk :eeek:

There is a lot of info and opinions on this thread, so here's my $0.02- I've ran Optima red tops for years in 2 rigs with never a single problem. I can leave headlights on for hours, listen to the radio all night, and winch without the engine running. I can't tell you at what point they go dead cause it's never happened. The new yellow tops are supposed to be the best of both worlds- like a red and blue optima combined, no more need for dual batteries. Never tried them myself though cause the red tops are still working great. Costco always has good prices on Optimas. Before I discovered Optimas I went through many many Die Hards, now those are lousy batteries!

HMM wierd, still an Optima lover?

After this weekend, my red top is officially done for. Kept it on the trickle charger for most of the week before and it was still turning that starter over pretty sluggish the entire weekend. I didn't dare try to use the winch. :D

I crapped out an optima. But it was because one of the cells was cracked and leaked out all the goo from the inside. If you read my original post about the "dead" battery in this thread, that was the problem. The battery itself was cracked.

I run dual reds and have never had a problem except for that time when the battery got cracked.

Winch, accessories, and rock lights on one, and the other for the normal electrical system. Works just fine, has for a few years now.

Its a fluke I am sure--I see ALOT of delco's drop dead...

When you produce thousands of batteries a month **** happens.

yeah I'm sure, not that i have delt with thousand's or anything, but the better part of the percentage I have dealt with in the past few years have been the same story. One of many examples, Kevin that we were speaking of bought 3 for all 3 of his new buggies and all 3 were bad, he returned them all and got 1 out of the next 3 that worked. Must have been a fluke:D

'm still running the original Red top in my heep for about 6 - years and the two I put in the truck have been doing just fine as well.

Sounds like Optima (or whoever) has quality issues on the line.
