• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

The Punisher Chassis Begins!

The actual brackets will be gusseted, but I don't think the hoops need anything. They are only supporting a few hundred pounds each.

Floor pan and firewall are in. Now its on to trans tunnel, back cover and dash board.

Almost finished the transmission tunnel today, its a real pain in the ass bending tin by hand rather than using a brake. I still have to finish weld it and make the removable top for it. The cool part about the tunnel is it will be removable as one piece.:D

Today I got the seats mounted and the top cover for the tunnel cut. Next up, I have to enclose the rear of the cab, install a dash bar, dash board and start mounting accesories.:D

Are those seats (brackets) just welded to a piece of 16g sheet metal, which is a flat piece sheet metal screwed to the sides of the cage tube?

It sure looks scary to me. I don't know if I'd want to be passanger during an E-ticket ride.

Even the OEM use bent metal, which is reinforced at all the seat mounting locations.

The brackets are welded to th16ga, which is bolted to the tubes with 1/4 in bolts. The brackets are cross braced underneath and are more ridgid than any car I've ever owned. The job of the seat is to keep me off the floor. Keeping me held in place is the five pont harnesses responsibility, and they will be bolted directly to the tube.

Over the last couple days I've gotten the rear section of the cab tinned in, the brake master cylinder mounted and the pedals installed. I still have a bunch more odds and ends to finish, but I'm really waiting for my headers to show up so I can finish the exhaust and other stuff that has to fit around it. Also, while installing all of this stuff I discovered another great use for a beer can.:redneck:

Just finished tacking all the door bars in place as well as the dash bar. I also built a new battery mount in the back just above the axle to get some more weight toward the rear. Hopefully this weekend I'll get the radiator, dash board and exhaust installed.

Well, I finally got the steering column installed as well and the orbital valve for the hydraulic steering. I did not want to put the valve inside the cab area, (just because of the risk of hot hydraulic fluid covering my legs) but it was really my only option. The column will however be very sturdy once fully welded. Now its on to radiator and coolant lines. Still trying to find the right headers to fit the engine compartment, going down to Jim Greens tommarow to talk to them about some other options.

be careful with the orbital there, i would hate to see a line burst then possible fluid injection. just something to think about

Thanks for the heads up. If you have your tape out, what is the dist from the center exhaust port to the collector flange? Also, what is the dist from the edge of the head to the outside edge of the collector, ie how far does the header protrude off the head? Any info you have would be appreciated.
