in this pic, the red areas are cup-like inserts. what orientation are they? cup towards axle or towards center? I tried to install them cup towards center, but the center pin didn't want to go in. also, does the lockright have its own thrust washers and needs to use the original ones from the...

Or is it time for a rebuild? Front axle on my CJ, I opened it up to change the fluid and found this... Doesn't look like it's into the bearings too bad yet. I'll have to wait to rebuild it (and throw a locker in it) until the cash flow starts up again, if thats what it needs. :mad:

After consulting with a few of you, (especially 2pwrlftrs4u, who I bugged tremendously!) I managed to get the TJ flares installed on the rear of the Jeep. Made a BIG difference in stuff & flex-ability! Now I need to re-do the fronts, cause they still hit the rear section of fender (Hmm...tube...

is 1/2 x 3 1/2 plate good enough for recovery points on a CJ front bumper, as part of the winch mount? Or should I step up to my 1 x 2 1/2 plate? Planning on using 3/4 threaded shackles with them.

On this Jeep, the front crossmember is covering the power steering box. Anyone see a problem with removing that cheep bumper and mounting a winch plate in front of the crossmember, and inside the frame ears. Basically sink it into the frame in front of the crossmember. What I am thinking is...

Well this thread is to share what I am doing with my new toy. First thing on the list was to replace the front brake lines, that were neglected when a Vancouver, WA 4WD shop installed a SkyJacker 4" lift and extended shackles. (I'd think they would know the stock ones weren't long enough. :wtf...

To go under my '74 CJ-5 I want to upgrade my axles eventually, But would like to upgrade to disc brakes right away. Can I get either of these accomplished with these axles? Or are these a waste of time and $$?
