I have a set of Ingersol Rand impacts, and harbor freight impacts. The sockets are Craftsman conventional (non-impact). Have yet to break a socket with the impact gun. The h/f tools were my first set, before I had the big compressor.

I have a mix also. I must say for my use (limited weekend junk) I have been pretty impressed with the HF tools. Seem to be lasting and work as well as my IR and AP tools.

For air tools, one word: INGERSOLL.
at my old job(rental yard) we had HF impact sockets. i never managed to break or damage them, and we were HARD on our tools. i've got set and i like them.
i've got a cheesy harbor freight impact gun, hardly takes lug nuts off. i might save up for an IR.

I just got snap ons new 3/8" impact---one of the best units I have used to date and light....
I use CP for my 1/2" stuff and snap on/mac for the rest..
