Another Toyota thread...

My daily driver/weekend play toy.

I bought it with a blown head gasket, but basically ended up replacing the top half of the engine. The P.O. apparently didn't realize that coolant needs to be changed out from time to time and the water jackets in the head were corroded into the combustion chamber.

A phone call to ENGNBLDR in Portland fixed that right up, then the fun started.

Day I bought it.

Teardown

All buffed up and a new set of shoes.

The truck had been worked hard. I ended up replacing shocks, steering parts, CV axles, etc. And the cooling system was a nightmare.

Out with the old in with the new.

Then time for goodies...

yes, right where it's stuck into the seal housing. I replaced it with a new one, but kept the old one - I may resollder it and keep it for a spare.

Thanks. That's definitely the direction I'm going with this truck, a solid DD that doubles as a a capable hunting/camping/road trip type of rig. I've got the zuk for thrashing on.
