Drinking and Wheeling

Hardline Crawlers - Rock Bouncer Builds, Tech & Off-Road Trail Talk

Here I go again, but arn't the large number of beer cans and other litter laying around in the woods just another thing to take into consideration in the whole shutting down areas. I guess I just see drinking and wheeling as possibly becoming a huge factor when people are trying to close down these types of places

Dang she's smart.....I've only read 4 pages in and everyone is making very valid points.....Anybody guess what the ratio of beer cans to non beer cans is? I know I pick up a hell of alot more beer cans on the trail than any other trash..... Coincidence?

I sometimes (rarely) drink out on the trail. If I do, it is a rather mellow day, and no plans for the crazy stuff. Usually, it is in the snow, and off in my own world. I kinda grew up with it, I guess. My dad and his buddies drank quite a bit while wheeling in their day, and I can't actually remember one dent or mishap in the several years they took out their Toyotas they all bought new.

That being said, I cannot stand being around some of the numnuts I see out there that have obviously forgotten how many they can handle and where the empties go... in the recycle! When I was last over in the Naches area, Kaner trail 676 to be exact, I must have picked up over 100 beer cans that were not there just 2 days previous... BS.

I can honestly say that I have messed up more while TIRED than when drinking... how do we enforce that?

Oh, and

"REEEEED BULL!!!":haha: :haha: :haha:

What about after a day of wheeling/drinking. You hop into your tow rig and now you are blazing down the road with how many pounds of moving weight? Sure you might be able to handle the booze on the trail out plopping around but when you hit the road--thats a whole nother story in its own.

Not a "whole nother story", same story, both are against the law.:awesomework:

simple.... YOU DON'T!!!:hi:

But whats the difference between the 2? Are they not both the same?
Fawk no they're not the same. On the trail, you aren't doing 60+ MPH with a gross weight well over 10K lbs. On the trail, there aren't any number of other completely unsuspecting people in your path.

So its a speed thing then...

I will go out on a limb here and say the most of the people that break the law by drinking and driving are also the ones most likely to litter and not tread lightly.

It's against the law not matter what. I like it that way too.:flipoff:

It's a danger level thing. Speed is part of it. More generally, it's you versus your environment.

By the same token, nobody would feel safe with you in an F-16, sober or not. You don't have the skills or the judgment to deal with it. Nobody would feel safe with Kyle driving your loaded tow rig down the highway sober or not, he doesn't have the skills or the judgment yet. Everything is relative.

A law is a law. Unless you can change it and I doubt your cert will help you there.:looser:
And everybody knows it's illegal. There is no argument about that. If that was the subject of this thread, it would have been about three posts long.

Speeding is also illegal. I'd bet a dollar you speed every time you hit the road.

they are both the same in my opinion.

i guess i feel i don't have a problem with it, IN MODERATION... ON THE TRAIL...NOT ENDANGERING MY LIFE OR ANYONE ELSE'S.

personally, drinking to get drunk is not on my list of things to do:looser: .

It's also illegal to drive through any water at Reiter. I'd like to meet the person that doesn't do it every time they wheel.

For all I know, you could sometimes drive a half mile to the corner store and not speed. *yawn*

So I'll go a different route. Wen's the last time you exceeded the speed limit?

I honestly couldn't tell you. I just don't speed.

I just don't blatantly break the law. Sorry to dissapoint.........I am perfect in all ways.:fawkdancesmiley:
