chevy 63 inc springs

The first thing I did was go down to see Martin at the auto parts.I told him the next time one of "those" guys came in, wanting to lower their chevy to buy the old 63 in spring packs for me.He didnt even have to buy them I got em free.So then I made these hangers and moved the hole forward 8.75 inches. Also I made a double shackle setup from both stock sets of shackles.Metal from behind my shed for hangers was free.

Rear end

Well I decided not to go with the full length axles,so I decided to stick with the toyota v6 30 spline rear end and sell the 14 bolt for parts money +200$The pod in the truck had 4,56 gears that were destroyed.I scored a rebuilt pod with 4.10 gears off a buddy for 150$ and spent the rest on seals.

Front susspension

Next I started building spring hangers. The reason there are two is because one is for Toyota spring centers (29) and one is for dana 44 spring centers (27.5).I have not decided what front axle to use.

Doubler

Yea,I would love one as long as its free, super cheap,or I can work it off narrowing an axle or something for you. This is a budget build and spending a bunch of money on an adapter isnt in the plans as of now unless its a bargain.

I would stick with a toy front end... dana 44 brings the suck and is not ment to be under a toy. Im sure more purists will chime in but I thought I would start by steering you in the right direction. I would think it would be cheaper to build also.

I would also look into selling the 350 and going back to a 22re or something with less HP if you want your axles to live. V8s are hard on 1 tons.

Looks like a great start and I love the trade!

Stuff

I think someone is cool even if they wheel junk.I have friends who cry I cant wheel becausewaaaaaa waaaaaaa waaaa.I am trying to build this for nothing or even make money building it.I have a bunch of d44 stuff,so it will probably end up d44.I wish I had a 22re,but the truck came with a L48 1978 corvette 350.The rear toy axle will stay unless I find a disc 9 inch..

Oh no, I was not saying you were not cool or your rig was junk.. I think its great what folks can do on a lower then normal budget...

keep it up.. ill just shutup and watch.

lay it on me

Please by all means, I love all ideas and criticisms. It will help me make a better wheeler. One of my cheap mods is the np 205 twinstick.I completed this a few days ago.Ihave not installed it yet,but it shifts into all gears.

shift rail

See the blacked out areas on the above shift rail? This is the material that needs to be removed for twinstick operation. This is front wheel high.

A dana 44's best friend is extra parts.....trust me I know.....:redneck:

Looks good, only one question...what is the name of that blue your using??

Rear axle

Ok, the pod that was in the trucks axle was a v6 4.56 pod.Upon dis assembly I discovered that the ring gear was destroyed.I decided that the 14 bolt that came with the truck was to be sold for parts money. So I sold it and bought all of the parts to rebuild a 4.10 pod I got from a buddy along with new tube seals.

The crack

This is the crack you are looking for when pulling the inner c's off a dana 44.After pulling the c's,cut the tube or tube, pop the c's back on set pinion and caster, then weld.

nice work man. you will be good with the dana stuff. still cheaper than yota stuff to build by far and wide enough to not need spacers. replacement parts are cheaper too, like brakes and bearings etc... I like the build and that rearend will last a long time behind a sbc. buddy has an fj40 with the stock l/c rear that lasted 15+yrs(I know a lil bigger than the 8in yota, but the v6 3rd is strong) behind a sbc sm465 205 and 38s. keep the building coming, nice workmanship on the narrowing. :awesomework:

I love to barter

Eric,a local tire guy,who likes to drag race needed some emergency welding done on his race car.So I took my welder to his place and took care of it, along with fixing a gate, so his kid wouldn't fall in a swimming pool. The entire day I was dropping hints about needing tires for my truck. He says go by the shop and Martin will pay you. When I went to the shop,

Martin smiles and says your paycheck is in the corner. Not bad for 5 hrs of welding and a few grinding disks.37x13x15 Boggers, see the nipples still poking out?
