Thanks to everyone for the compliments. As for the ride height, its pretty much at ride height now. I am still playing with driveshaft clearance to get it even lower if I can.

You should really try and lower that thing a bit.
it looks really tall.
 
The height is an unfortunate side effect of top loader axles. There's only so much you can do. But ill keep at it.
 
Got the rear top hat built so now I will have double triangulation in the rear. Also mocked up the rear upper links. Tommarow, its on to the rear lower links and finish the bracketry.

The bolts look funny because they are just chunks of all thread for mock up. When the actual grade 8's are in there they will go from the outside in.

Finished the rear four link and now I have a rolling chassis :cheer:. Still having clearance issues with the front drive shaft. I think I am just going to shave some more out of the oil pan and trans pan. That should atleast give me a reasonable ride height. The last picture is the mud bogger version of the buggy :redneck:.

If you run your ride height where it is in the last pic you D-line should clear the oil pan just fine.
 
move the engine up and over to the drivers side, put it in at a slight angle.
 
A dry sump oil set up would fix that right up for ya:awesomework: Cool rig I like the way it just looks pissed:cool:
 
Have you looked at running a pillow block in the front driveline. I did on my cj and it cure my clearance problem.

Coming along dam good and looks great hope to make a run with you somewhere sometime... I need to finish my own build up first though! :D

I got my driveline issue figured out, just had to shave the transmission pan. Now were working on coilover mounting points,lots of fun. I'm not making any promises about the CORE challenge but I'll try to make it, I will however definately be out wheeling all summer long. I'll post some pics of the progress tommarow.:D
 
Your front axle is going to move all over the place, your upper links are running slightly outward the same direction as the lowers. When I saw the first pic with uppers only I was curious if you were going to run a true inverted 4 link which would be awesome minus the links getting hung up all the time, super stable. It looks like you could move the axle end of the uppers inward a ways. Just a little helpful info, looks pretty good man. Maybe pictures are just decieving.

I understand it wont be as stable as the rear, but the lowers are severly triangulated and should provide enough leverage to keep the front axle centered under load.
 
Move that engine back a bit man. You will be able to get a lower stance and it would solve alot of problems .

You need 40* of triangulation to keep it from moving side to side. Do you have that much between the two lowers?You do want you uppers to triangulate the opposite way from you lowers.

Looks to me like the uppers could come in at the axle end and still have plenty of pan room.

I agree the engine could sit back more and solve allot of problems.

I cant move the engine back at all, If I did there would be no place to mount the seats. As for the links I have 44 degrees triangulation in the lowers both front and rear, I ran this same setup on my other rig for four years without any problems.

Just run it and if its a problem change it down the road, thats what building a rig is all about right? If something dont work change it:awesomework:

Not trying to bust your balls man. Its looking good . Just trying to throw some suggestions out there. When building a chassis these are thing you needed to take into consideration before building it. That chassis would kick ass on a set of 60s for sure but your using rockwells so you pretty much needed to build the chassis around them. From watching other build these is the only experience I have in this so my word really means nothing. I have bult quite a few rigs but never a chassis. Keep up the good work.:awesomework:
 
We got the front bump stop finished and both front coilovers installed with brackets mocked up. Still lots of bracing needs to be done for the coilover mounts and all the links need to be boxed. I ended up having to move the upper links back straight in the front, I did this because they did not clear the springs once on the coilovers with the steering at full lock. It came out pretty good though and has a quit a bit of articualtion.:D
