I'm worried that the left bearing got a little chewed when I broke the rear axle.. I cleaned it out as best I could... But I think I'd better replace it...

Hi All:

Hey! That is what I was gonna say! :redneck:

Seriously, maybe a Zexol-Torsen LSD unit?? :eeek:

A broken one....

Other than that, no clue. What running gear does it have? Looks Toyota...

The rear is already cleaned, and reassembled... I just don't wanna put faith in that bearing... Or ruin the locker...

Had some brake issues that I fixed... And should be ready to go... Except for my conscience nagging at me to fix it right...

The plan is to go Toyota axles at some point.. But wanna bust a few more sammi axles first! Lol

Lastly, need to pull apart the front end and figure out why the left front won't engage... Once I get all 4 tires turnin and burnin, I'll be ready to go break more stuff!!

Forgive my newb'ness... But is that just a stock sammi rear carrier bearing I need to replace? Nothing to do with the locker assembly?

Nope. The spool/lunchbox just replaces spiders.

Just a stoxk carrier and all

To tell if its a spool, put your finger in each side gear, if it has play, its a Lockright, if its solid ferling, its a spool.

The locker in the rear worked perfectly... Right up until I broke the axle... Then limped it to the trailer... I'm just worried about the bearing on that side...

Looks like I'll be pulling it apart again... ;-)

When looking through it from the side I can clearly see a long pin going all the way through... With what looks like stubby pins similar to the lock rite picture...

You can see it in my earlier fuzzy pic... And I do recall seeing it... Would a spool have that? The only differential I've personally had apart was on my 98 dodge with a limited slip posi...

Yeah the pins are used weather its opened or locked. Id show you a picture but I'm stuck to just my phone till centurylink gets out and hooks us up. If you find my build thread you can see what it looks like. I installed a mini spool

Spool and lock rite cannot be seen without opening thr carrier... Or just see if theres rotational play on the side gears this will tell you if its open, Lockright, or spool.

Here's my front locker torn apart...

Had to disassemble it to remove the broken splines of my front axle... Searching for a 'hub wiper seal' now so I can reassemble the rig tonight or tomorrow.. Should be ready to wheel with all four tires turnin and burnin...

So... Where we going? I got some new axles to break! ;-)

You gonna be home in a bit? I'll be leaving the shop shortly, might swing by. Got some interesting 2014 KOH plans to share.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the rust on the adjustment collar on the rear diff...the bearing should be ok, does it spin smoothly? On the front, that is an EZlocker...which uses the stock front side gears in this case, which are 22 spline...
Remember I told you about Trail Tough's Double Tough axles??? They're reasonably priced...They're 26 spline and chromoly... now would be the time to swap out the front side gears for rears, order up a set of their axles, and reassemble...:awesomework:

I hear ya there.... And I'll swap in the future... Either to what you're suggesting... Or yota axles...

These are 3.73 gears... Almost had my hands on a set of Yukon 4.57's...

I really just need to wheel/break what I've got for a while... Not even sure yet how this thing performs!
