So yeah, after introducing myself and checking out the site, I figured I'd post a buildup thread showing how far I've gotten with the building of my truck.so yeah, here I go.

Bonestock 1984 Toyota SR5 Pickup 4X4
190K on 2.4L 4- banger and stock 5 spd
30x9.50x15 cooper AT's

Then got the bumper built and added the canopy-

Then stripped it down and painted it-

Then I finally got to play with it again!-

Unfortunately thats all ive done so far, check back later for updates.

I moved this to the garage area---better suited for it....

But ya--keep the pics/buildup coming...

here's a bit more

ok guys here's a bit more. I know it's not 16 inches, but I wanna keep the stock frame intact for the most part so I'm going with 8.

Future plans include:
Aussie or EZ locker for the rear
4.88 Yukons
RUF and 63in Chevy's or Waggys all 4 corners
Custom home made can-back style canopy.
35x12.50s on 15x8 black wagons

Couple things of advice if you haven't cut it yet. You want to cut one side and THEN mark the other side. This way if you get a wave or what not in your first cut you can measure off of it to make sure your cut is equal distance apart. I ran a strip of tape on each line just to make it a little easier to follow too. Don't be afraid to cut the frame down either if you want to take more then 8 inches off. Just cut it off right behind the rear spring perches:beer: You'll have to make your own bumper mounts but that's not too big of a deal.

More Pictures For The Masses!

I'm not totally against cutting the frame more, it's just that I still have a dirtbike, and no trailer, so I need something long enough to get that around still.

Anyhow, here's some more pics like you guys asked for:corn: .

And this is the model i've kind of been using for my build.

Mostly the height, tire size, bob size and type. and hopefully ill be able to make a nice bumper like that one's got after a while.:D

Unforunately, no new progress. Still waiting for clutch to come in so I can replace it, and I need to get that back in before I pull front axle to fix what I messed up on the drivers side springs. All I gotta do to dropfront axle enough to work on the springs is remove u-bolts and spring perch bolts right?

yes that is correct. if your are just planing on lowering the axle down a couple inches to make just enough room to get the spring off.

Ok thanks Red Beard.

Anyone have any ideas on SUPER cheap/easy/practical mods for the yota, like stuff other than the usual lift/tires/engine?

some super cheap/easy/somewhat easy mods would be bobbin( see youve started), weld the rear, maybe do some trimmin to run bigger tires, and if you can fab up some armor so it stays straight..:D

Okay guys.....time for a much needed update. Finally got my parts to get this truck back on the road. They got me through the nose though....almost $400 for a re-manned carb and another $50 to get my flywheel resurfaced, now I just gotta Find the time to bring it all together, hopefully some time this week after school. And another idea I've been tossing around in my head, anyone ever built a roof rack style thing on top of the bed rails, covering the entire top of the bed you know, and then have it hunge up towards the front like one of those shmancy bed toppers? I'll try to get some drawings posted up of what the heck I'm t alking about here if you guys aren't getting it.

I believe one of the marlin crawler trucks had one of those... That one gave me some ideas for the one i've got, but i think it'll be coming off here in the near future... weights to bloody much:booo:

got any pics of yours? might be interested in taking it off of your hands. The reason I wanna go with something like this is because it's gotta be lighter then my fancy insulated fiberglass canopy i'm running right now.

So yeah...update time again. i've been playing around with the idea of tossing a set of old rear springs up front in my truck. The thing is I don't need/want any lift outta my truck right now...Anybody have even the slightest idea of what leaf combo i could use to just make the damn truck sit level and actually have some up travel up front?
