1981 Toyota Build

rubbin tough on the fender/firewall, and the flatbed/decking. so i hacked my fenders s'more, gonna tub my firewall, notch the decking for the tire, then if i have time before naches i will move the rear fender tube up. and then also going to 90* my gas filler into the tool box so you have to unlock and lift the box to get at the gas filler.

also got some tube coming this week. my priorities for memorial weekend are finishing the front bumper and fender armor, gettin the winch wired up as well as the 6.5" infinitys and the 10" JL bump bump. tubbing the firewall, and if i have time after that i will maybe do some more tube work. i had to eliminate the hood latch support bracket due to the winch sitting so far back, so i ordered up a set of hood pins. if they are here tomorrow i will get those done and start into tubbing the firewall.

how far did you move the axle forward other than just putting the rears up front?

i think it's 2.5" total, maybe 3" the hanger is pretty far and the rears up front so i honestly dont know for sure.

Your truck is way nice!!! Sucks that you rolled it man! How did that happen?
Cory,

up near quartz mtn. on the road comin down into one of the hairpins. doint about 25 and it went completely sideways, the tires grabbed and went over twice. kinda scary because if it went off the road at all id be dead. just had a couple bruises, oh and "i love this bar" by toby keith skipped a little bit but kept playing when it landed back on its tires and still running!:cheer:

thank you. is 27" under the front tire good? i dont know what kind of articulation people are getting out of leaf sprung rigs. i think it will do over 30 once i get the firewall tubbed and the decking in the back cut, because both the front and rear still have more to go, it's just getting held up by rubbing issues.

haha, i snagged it off some random truck in a parking lot. my mom was driving behind me one day and shes like what does that magnet say? i was like "what magnet" is someone playing a joke on me?

not really much of an update, but i built some speaker mounts out of 16 guage because anyone who has a first gen pickup knows that there is no good place to mount a pair of speakers other than the doors and if you're into wheelin chances are you will run w/o them at some point. also, got my hood pins installed beings as i wasnt able to use the hood latch support bracket because the winch sits so far back, and that made the latch itself too flimsy. will make much more progress this weekend, including probably some tube work hopefully if it shows up this week. pictures to follow the progress.

started on the exo today. got the stinger tacked on and the two fender bars bent up and tacked to the stinger. hopefully tomorrow we will get the roof and the a-pillars done. chevyxj should be posting up some pics.. and i plan on running fenders over the new tube. ill need to notch the fenders for the fender tube and punch the a pillar through it. ill post more pictures tomorrow.

A few pics of the start of the cage for now
