    Bloock Heater Issue

It appears that I have a dead short somewhere in the block heater circuit on my '97 Powerstroke. Each time I plug it into a circuit it immediately pops the GFCI. I have tried 3 separate circuits with the same result. The good news is the really cold weather is coming to an end for a while...

    Battery Charging to a trailer

I am going to be mounting a winch on my trailer for use in emergency loading situations. I would like to be able to charge the battery from the charging lead in my wiring harness from the tow vehicle to the trailer. Will I need to have a battery isolator? In any case, what would the wiring...

Walker Valley Focus Group - 10/9/12

Fire Closure Walker Valley is closed until at least 10/15. It is extremely dry there so don't be surprised is the closure is extended. The fire started on the SMC (motorcycle/quad trail). It was serious enough that it burned several hoses and they had to pull firefighters back on some fronts...

Late XJ or Early TJ Fuel Tank

Kevin (zukkev) is looking to borrow a late XJ (1996-2000) or an early TJ (1997-2001) fuel tank for purposes of mocking up a fuel tank location. Alternatively, if you have a tank and are willing to give Kevin some dimensions over the phone, that would work also. If you can help, post up here...

    Toyota Question

A friend of mine on another board posted this question: Have a friend with an 88 Camry. The water intake for the block where the upper radiator hose goes has a broken tube that comes out the bottom rear of it. Trying to figure out what this passage/assy is called so she can order another one...

    Recommendations of Auto Shifter

When I change tubs on my YJ, I will need to get an Automatic Shifter kit since the new tub and steering column were from a manual tranny. What do people recommend? Beyond recommending a particular make/model, please talk about your reasons for the recommendation.

    Renovation of a YJ

The end of May, I bought a YJ that had nearly everything that I could want. It had Dana 60s at both ends, it had 4.0 crawler gears in the t-case, an ARB in the front and a spool in the back. The engine was a crate later year 4.0 (ODBII). It was running 38.5 Swampers. The rig is now at...

    Mixing Antifreeze Colors

I added some "green" antifreeze to a 2005 Toyota Sienna a few minutes ago. Once the level came up I saw that the old antifreeze was "red". Any issues? I only moved the car about 4 feet and shut it down so the green is all in the overflow tank. Similar question - late '90s Saturns. Did they...

    Tabor (Warn) Winch Issue

Yesterday I was using my winch to remove a recalcitrant dead fruit tree. The power-out function stopped working. I suspect that it is a remote function rather than a solenoid issue. The winch is a Tabor 9000, which is a Warn winch. It uses a 5-pin controller. When the switch is held in the...

A buddy of mine is building a street rod based loosely around a '50 Ford P/U. Actually, he is only using the cab and front sheetmetal. He has picked up an '06 Corvette steering column. What wiring and or internal mechanical issue is he going to have to address in order to use the column? He...
