    lock right vs detroit

I never recommend a lunch box for a rear axle. These units, unlike a Detroit, actually wear over time. The lack of a hold out ring assembly means the edges of the teeth wear with every engage/disengage. If you MUST run one of these in the rear axle, swap the unit around, side for side, every...

    Evans width restriction

FWIW- I know of 2 parks in the south that don't have any insurance-ZERO. The land is cheap and the property owner has the land isolated from his other property/investments. If he gets sued he'll file. EVERYONE knows he's not covered and he just uses peer pressure and public opinion to prevent...

    Evans width restriction

I disagree with you here Mike. Check out major events nearly anywhere and you'll still see mainly average Jeeps running 35's. Certain areas have more buggy type rigs but there are still more areas that don't. If you're thinking about Cali, I'd be willing to bet that areas like Big Bear get...

    What causes this.

Bearing cap torque should be 60.

    who runs 1350s

The only issue I've had with 1350s have been with the strap style yoke. When I first got the rear end I ordered the wrong yoke and had straps. They tweaked very quickly and needed replacing after a good, hard run. I've since replaced it with a u-bolt style and haven't had an issue.

That's what I remember. Imported crap.

    What causes this.

A few years ago Genuine Gear had an issue with ring gear bolts being slightly undersized. The result was just as Joop described.

Where can I get Detroit locker parts?

Call Tom's Differentials at 208-265-8111. They can be tough to work with but should have what you need. If you can describe the parts you need, I can give you part numbers which will help your search.

    dana 44/detroit question

It sounds like it is a piece of one of the springs inside the Detroit. I should have an extra one here. The spring is highly compressed and there is room for a chunk to get out if it was broken. The locker would probably still work with the broken spring but not as well and you're risking...

    Riffraff Fuel rail crossover 7.3

Thanks for the feedback. I've already got a full Banks kit on the truck and it runs really well. It looks like this might be the next mod. :awesomework:

    Riffraff Fuel rail crossover 7.3

I checked it out and understand the concept. Have you done it? Does it do as advertised?

    Riffraff Fuel rail crossover 7.3

Has anyone done the Riffraff fuel rail crossover? I spoke with a customer that raved about it. He said the motor was quieter, had better throttle response and got better mileage. What cha know???

    Trail Signage

Nah, we weren't looking for a mud pit. We were on trails that had been rocked because they held water. Not worth the effort to figure out.

    Trail Signage

Yes, I've wheeled there. Trails that had any type of mud on them had been rocked. A few years back a buddy from Oregon brought a couple of their forest managers (from the Brown's Camp area) up here. They asked to have us show them around Evans. They were shocked that we had any muddy areas.

    Trail Signage

You DON'T want that to happen. We'd have more trails treated with filler rocks.

    Broke!

No probs with a Detroit up front without hubs. It acts like an open diff in 2wd except for the drive shaft rotation. The only prob is the unbalanced drive shaft.

    Good video!!!

My sentiments exactly! About the video- It is old but a newer version could easily be done with references to our area. It raises good points and honestly made me remember some of the reasons I enjoy my hobby. Our off road community has grown but our voice has been diminished by lack of...

    Hay Idaho Guys!! Chilco?

To the best of my knowledge Chilco wasn't an official ORV area. I wheeled there 3 years ago and they were saying how the state was going to be coming in to take the rock for a project.
