well to start off, updates will be far and between for a few months (till i'm a civilian in july). i bought a 1984 toyota long bed a little over a year ago. then i spent 8 months overseas and a few more months till i made it back to washington... but i finally made it home for christmas and got to cut away a little on the toy.

the plans:... what i have and am aquiring as we speak
rebuilt 23spline 4.7 twin sticked tcase
marlin crawler doubler adapter
flatbelly
5.29 gears, spooled rear, aussie locker in the front
longfield 30 spline axles
chromoly rear shafts
waggy springs in the rear, mix match rears up front
removing bed, cutting frame off behind shackle mounts and making a flatbed
propane conversion
sky high steer kit
brand new 35x15.5 tsl/sx's or if i sell those, 39.5 iroks...
and many more things as time goes...

well here's some pics of the process so far. only had a couple days to work then back to arizona for a few more months...

as i got her

well the rear waggy springs were installed but i didn't get pics before i left. then for the front of the lift on the next jouney home. or if i'm lucky some might get done on it's own (as a christmas present) while i'm out of state. but that's it for now. more to come in a few months...

i'll let you know! it'll be till spring or summer till i get to it... but expect a few runs late summer and next winter. hopefully i finish collecting the parts... so i can finish. know anyone that wants to buy a set of 5 unused 35x15.5x15 tsl/sx's? i'm gonna need bigger tires...

Sweet truck, and it sounds like you got yourself a damn good plan. Keep us posted as the progress continues...

I'm interested. how much? PM me the details. where are you located, rims/no rims, etc...???

well a small update, i now have a 5th rim for my spare. my dad found it at olympic 4x4! odd part is, it matched the other 4... which will all be stripped of chrome and powder coated in time.

well here's some more updates, my dad sent some pics, he did a little work while i'm away. the back is all together, the front just needs to have the shackle mounts welded so the shackle can go on. but here's some pics with the tires on and the front sitting about where it will be with the shackles on. with the way the waggys were mounted in the rear, the wheelbase was shortened about 3 1/2 to 4 inches.

I dont think the suspension is going to work too well with those chunks of 4x4s wedged in between the frame and the front springs :flipoff:

i figured the waggys were going to be too soft... :haha: :flipoff: more like, if you read, it says the shackle hangers for the front aren't welded on! it's just sitting mocked up about where the front will be sitting with the shackles and new mounts on.
i still need to get spacers to keep the tires away from the frame so it'll be able to flex...

i wasn't expecting it, and i'm glad! except i'm not there working on it. but 5 and a half months and i'm out of the marine corp, to finish her up.

Holy Crap! Can i bring mine over to be worked on while I am away :redneck:

Tell your dad he does wonderful work.

i'll tell him.

now i'm gambling on my tax returns so i can get the spool and gears in one shot. i already have the aussie locker for the front.

That's all that my front lift was when I bought the 38s for mine way back when. Lifted the frame with the forklift to let the springs droop and wedged some 4x4 blocks in there:redneck:

Sweet build though!
Now If I could only find someone to work on my junk...

a couple new pics of the new front springs

hey i got the same truck you have, can you tell me what springs you are planning to use in the rear and what u are doing with your old rear springs.

O and did u get a v6 rear, or stay with the original?

the rear springs i still have. haven't decided what i'm doing with them yet.

the springs i'm running front and rear are 5 leaf waggy springs. the rear are actually 4 now. the fifth on that particular set of spring packs was a flat overload spring.

the rear diff i'll be running a stock 8" with a spool and 5.29 gears, unless i have problems down the road. which i'm not anticipating anytime soon, if it gets that bad, dana 60's. i might switch to high pinions though.

well it's looking better all the time. the rear waggy's got a spring from the stock rear springs, and a combination of waggy leafs and the old rear springs were installed up front. shackles need to be fully installed on the front springs. but otherwise, the lift is done. waiting on the ubolt flip kits from trail gear right now. the 2 inch spacers are also installed. my dad threw on his 38's to see how they fit. i definately need bigger tires... and sell these 35's i have.
