Its the way their mounted on the trailing arm.
 
I wish you'd get some damn lights on for your pictures! Looks like a buggy but I can't tell **** else with the dark ass pictures.

Alright,response time David.
At this point in time DO NOT GO ANY FARTHER with this build
Before you do anything else to this project.I have a few questions that have
to be answered.I'm looking at the first drawings you posted and the pictures of it
as it sits.
#1 Are the trailing arms finished?
#2 Based on the first drawings and the tires being 40" the finished car should
be less than 80" high.Based on the last pictures it looks to be around 100"
high?
#3 Are you trying to mount the rear shocks pointed backwards and outside the
frame?
#4 Why is the bottom of the seat above the exhaust ports?Looks to me like the
engine is about 12"to low.
#5 Looks to me like the headrest is 3" below the top bar.Ultra 4 requires 4" min
space between the HELMET and FRAME.If a 6'3" feller is in the seat do you think
it will pass?
#6 What is the caster set at on the front?

This is my first response to this build thread about the car. I understand your a very busy feller and hard to get a hold of.
Just from my point of view reading this build thread,This was a mistake from the beginning. So if anyone else has questions please
let it be known now.
This will determine the out come of this build.............What say you,David?

I was wondering what that was going to do to the linear dampening rate of the shocks. With them leaned forward, you get a rising rate, and the shock increases its mechanical advantage over the axle as the suspension compresses. With them leaned back, the rate goes the opposite direction making the suspension softer the more it compresses. With them leaned back its going to be a ***** to tune, unless the actual mounting will be different than the mockup pics. I also agree with everybody else with the looks of the build. Out of the box is good, but so far out of the box that you're left at the UPS terminal isn't. Then again, I'm not paying the bills on this, and as long as the check writer is happy, my opinion doesn't mean ****

The chassis does not look very much like the drawings on page one. There were a lot of straight tubes and triangulation in the drawings. I actually liked the look of the drawings.
The chassis as it set had a bunch more bends in it. It is hard to tell by the pics but the front of the chassis from the dash forward looks unsupported.
 
I have to finish mount the shocks close to perpendicular with the trailing arms @ static ride height , and inside at the chassis.

The top of the buggy is 74 inches, with 18 - 19 inch ground clearance. with 37's

The caster has been set at 10.5 in mock up, but now that I have found the pinion angle, I need to break the tacks and turn them before I weld them on.

The seats are very tall with deep buckets. My head doesn't reach the top of the seat. Although they are not welded in, I will make sure they are mounted correctly with plenty of room.

I leaned the seats back 8 degree's, so the knee's can bend closer to 90, more like sitting in an office chair. This will keep the feet low and / while using a gas pedal with a bottom side fulcrum for comfort. Also allowing the headers to wrap up, and out to an exhaust pipe.

I found the inspiration for the engine and seating position.

You go about things in ways that don't really make a lot of sense.
