I was thinking about putting some lights on my car trailer for loading and working on the rig at night. The plan is to run it off 12v power from the tow rig. Looking for some ideas if anyone has done it.

i have it done on my 34' gooseneck, its great when loading a rig at night, or low light condition. i have mine run through the 7 way pin on my trailer. i ran it to the "12+" side so i always have power to it.

This with about 4 cheap fog lamps and you'll be good.

Where did you mount yours? I was thinking about putting a fog light down each side and recessing few round LED reverse lights in the center of the deck with some expanded metal over them.

i put mine on the top corner of the goose neck, and used a house hold outdoor box and light switch to turn them on and off. i got the oriellys 4" tractor flood lights, with the chrome base and rubber covering. they are like 15 buck, work great for me. produce a nice pattern. for the reverse lights, i have a buddy who is gonna order some led flood lights for the back-ups on my trailer. i was gonna do what you are talking about, i have a HUGE back bumper on my trailer so i was going to cut 4" holes in it, and mount them from behind and cover with expanded metal.... i'll see if i can get some pictures to post tomm when i get home.

I have a bunch of these in the ceiling (more than what is pictured here, I think 24 bulbs total). I use a $100 deep cycle battery that is wired in to charge off the truck. Lights stay on for hours and provide plenty of light. Socket-style LED bulbs are cheap if you want more light and less current draw.

dayum thats a nice toy box :dblthumb:

I'd just use the standard clear round or oval pop-in semi truck lights, rather than LEDs. Mainly because of price.

And if you happen to hit one or something, they just pop out of the grommet.

Pics don't really do it justice. Battery was getting pretty low, so the lights are yellow / dim. It lights up nice and bright in there.
