Makes me want to quit screwing with the whole "street legal" b.s. and get out the saw.

I'm still gonna drive it on the street... I'm gonna have to concoct some removeable flares and throw on some bigass mudflaps... but I think it's doable, that's the only thing that's not legal on it really. Of course, just around town mostly.

Lookin fawkin sweet! What are u lookin at for WB?

Don't know... 5.5" more than a stock YJ... I'll measure tomorrow.

Right now I'm not planning on running larger tires... I'm not going to spend money on upgrading the D44's to chromo's, so larger tires will have to wait until it's time for 1 tons. I haven't broken any stock D44 stuff yet with the 36's, I'm in the "sweet spot" as far as that goes. :D

lookin good. Are the shackle hangers going to be welded to the stock crossmember, or are you going to add a bumper or flat plate across the back? Looks like if you added a bumper your shackle angle would suck and you wouldn't have much down travel with straight shackles.

Shackle hangers are on the stock crossmember. It's pretty solid. I added some plate on the driver's side because it was a little rusty. We'll see how they hold up.

Pictures tonight.

Well, I finished up the rear hangers today and got the springs all dialed in and cinched up and a few other details taken care of.

I went ahead and drilled the XJ springs out to use a 7/16" center pin like the fronts. I had an old set of XJ main leafs that were spares, so I cut the ends off and just threw the extra main leaf in the pack for a total of 5 leafs and a little extra help for the actual main leaf. This put me right were I wanted it ride height wise.

Rear shackle, this is ride height angle:

Testing out the flex... I took all the spring clamps off the rear packs after this, so it should droop a little more than this now:

I had to say good night for now, even though I wanted to stay and keep working on it:

I drove it 30 miles today and nothing broke. :D

Third pic is parts for my anti-wrap bar. I screwed up and ordered 2 bushing setups instead of 3. Doh.

Who did you order your bushing and heim setup through? All one place?

I'll prolly need 2 heims/inserts and 6 bushings to cover F/R anti wrap bars and wouldn't minde just having it all come at once...

Yep, I got the parts for the anti-wrap bar through M.O.R.E. Three sleeve/bushing/bolt sets, one tube insert and one 3/4" heim and jam nut.

You gonna be ready for a test run this sunday? I'm planning on a little local day trip.

Probably not. :( I've got a lot yet to do before it leaves the garage. Got to order tube still and get the front of the cage built so I have some place to mount the seats, get the tank mounted in the back and the fuel lines re-routed.. rear shocks, driveline is going in for lengthening tomorrow, gotta get a new rear brake line, re-do the anti-wrap bar mount... and on and on.

Hey, you want to let me borrow that 1.75" die for a few hours sometime next week if I get some tube in? I'm going to do the main parts of the cage out of 1.75 and the seat bars and door bars out of 1.5.

Tonight I spent some time cleaning up the cuts on the rear and painting some stuff... I also finally removed all of the stock e-brake lines and ripped out a bunch of other unneeded junk in the back... I also spent lots of time laying underneath pondering how to route the exhaust and what to do for the base plates and possible frame tie-ins for the cage, being as my tub is kind of fubar'ed in the floor area around where the pads will go. I made the same mistake I made on my XJ... wheeled it without rocker panels and ****ed it all up, now I have to deal with a wavy floor on both sides where the front based plates will go.

Thanks Ben for dropping that die by my place today. As you can see, I put it to use tonight... first piece of tube got bent tonight. ;)

Also, I finished the cradle for the tank that I made by recycling the factory gas tank skid. I don't have any pictures, but basically I'm using the factory tank skid and the strap mounts. I added some 2"x2" square stock on the bottom of the skid plate to raise the tank up to the right level so I wouldn't have to clearance the fender for the filler neck. Tomorrow night I'm going to burn the cradle into the tub and touch it up with some paint, then it's on to finishing the fuel lines and figuring out why the pump's not working... oh yeah, and building the cage. :D
