About 2 month's ago a good friend and member of crew decided it was time to step up and go buggy and asked for my help to build something dirty. So after a lot of sit down time and planning parts and discussing chassis ideas, I spent a ton of time and designed a bouncer/trail buggy. Idea's were taken from looking at 100's of pics I have collected of different chassis and were all twisted in to one, then Hadley offered input and changes were made to be sure he was going to be able to end with a buggy he would be happy with.
I am sure there will be changes made along the way as this evolves.

We then sat down and laid out a parts list and starting messaging some great vendors, there are no sponsers on this rig but we will be thanking the great people that helped out with discounts to make this all happen. So far the list includes in no order:
PacFab
RuffStuff
Foa
High angle driveline
Artec
RougeFab
Monstertrans
Wideopen Designs
Swag Offroad
East Coast Gear Supply
TMR

The parts list in smple form will be.
Lq9-th400-atlas II
14 bolts front/rear
Homebuilt chassis
There will be details on all parts used as we go, and this build will run in real time at a quick pace as we are hoping to have it finished for test and tunning by mid Feb and its first run will be Ice breakers end of April.

We are starting with complete axle builds that kicked off this weekend. Both axles got tore down to nothing and we started with the rear first. The rear axle is a single wheel newer 14.
Tmr 15 bolt shave kit
Artec truss, pinion guard and custom backbone
H.A.D. 1410 flange
Shaved nitro 5.38 gear
ECGS Spool, disk break kit
RuffStuff diff cover
Stock shafts for now.
Some of our crew going threw the axle parts inventory.

Axles completely stripped down and being cleaned, Thanks to Vonwilson for the help.

Since the fab on the rear would go faster we started on it with a pile of parts.

Making cuts for the shave.

Got to clear this happy junk.

Shave mocked up.

The Artec truss all mocked up.

Mocked up the backbone today, just need to build flanges for the removable center section.

The front axle mirrors the rear parts list but will have 300m rcv axles and a full Psc steering system with Artec's double shear kit and Full Reid knuckles.

After mocking up the Ried knuckles and dana 60 parts to be sure of the wheel mount surface measurements and the popping it all back apart.

Housing cuts were laid out on the dually 14, Hadley making the cut.

All chopped and should end with a 65" wms/wms to match the rear.

Bring the hate.

.

Got the flanges made and installed today, 3/16" plates with 3/8" small head header bolts.

Going to be working on the front tonight, will keep this up to date.

Thanks, the 43 sx's,6.0ls, atlas and th400 should be getting dropped off at the shop this weekend along with some more parts.

Mighty fine looking welds and liking the backbone trusses too. Going to be a cool buildup.

I don't see any welds? ??? (besides what came on the diff cover)

(not sayin Jason isn't a good welder, just curious...)

What "size" is the chassis gonna end up? (big enough for some big boy suspension seats, or tiny kirkey/clubman ?)

Gonna be a sharp build! Just need to get them yota axles and lil 4.3 outta your buggy so you can bounce with us at dogs next year! :dblthumb:

No multi quote here?
I don't see any welds? Huh? (besides what came on the diff cover)

The only welds on the rear are the RuffStuff welds on the diff cover, everything else is just tacked up for full welding this weekend. Gonna run a pair of Corbau baja's from his jeep, should be roomy with out being big widest part of the chassis as drawn is 54" but that may change.

Honky is too broke right now, but bet you a dollar I can follow you. :flipoff1:

Started today with grinding the front axle clean.

Then tacked the housing to the jack stands with the pinion 5 deg up and set the knuckles up with 6 degrees of castor and tacked them on. Next did a tig root pass.

Followed by a Mig top pass that I just realized didn't get closed at the top.:homer: Need to get back in the swing of 18hr work days.

Starting to look like something.

Tossed the Artec front ford dana 60 truss on for shits and giggles, gonna need some modifications.

When you click "reply", scroll down a bit where it shows the other posts, click "add quote" in the corner of the post.

(there is a whole thread about it I believe)

I was just giving Patrick ****, because he posted about good welds in another infamous thread about a rzr cage when it was just tacks also.

We'll call it "premature weld complementation"

molaugh

Looks like you did that front axle the same way lickliter did mine, no tube added. I was wondering how a artec d60 truss would fit. I assume it's a 79 model 60 truss?

Wish I could tig weld. flashemifyougotem :****: Thats gonna be a damn good looking axle with that truss.

Yeah I was referring to the weld pictures he was going to post on the axle.......that's my story at least, or I figured that was a a weld on kit versus a pre-welded kit....
