well, its my turn. I have been wanting to build a buggy for quite a while now and while on deployment I was able to decide on what exactly I wanted to build and start getting things in line to do so. So here we go...

Chassis: HellRaiser 3 from AZrockcrawler.com

got my plans a few days before I got home from deployment

This chassis design is actually designed around 3 single seats, not 2 seats and a bench. After talking with Chris about it, he said a bench will fit with no issues. I plan on making a few changes to it since I am a little taller than most. It will be stretched a bit and probably have a little taller cage height (hopefully not much). Also, this chassis was built with a V6 and a rear radiator, but there have been a few people use LS motors like mine and a front mount radiator, only thing it will do is raise the hood line a bit. By keeping the radiator in the front, I will be able to push all the seats back a little bit to help with leg room.

The ZR2 truggy will be dismantled after its last ride this fall and the majority of the parts will be used on the buggy.
Things I will be keeping:
5.3L Vortec, 4L60e, 231/205 doubler
Aluminum radiator w/ taurus fan
B&M pro stick shifter
dual cutting brakes and brake lines
Warn 9.5ti
D60 with 5.13s, chromos, RPM drive flanges, solid knuckles and arms, welded up, 3/4 ton brakes, ruff stuff cover, trussed
14B with 5.13s, disc brakes, detroit, ruff stuff cover, trussed
16" ORI's
full hydro steering--Dual ended Performance offroad Systems ram, PSE pump, Howe tube cooler
42 PBRs on trail readys

Things I will be selling:
Truggy chassis, with wiring harness for a 5.3/4L60E, links, belly pan
2 PRP daily driver seats
RCI fuel cell with remote fill tube
possibly the 16" SAW coilovers and 4" SAW bumps
I would REALLY like to make a package deal with all this stuff......

Things I have already:
Bunch of parts from Jegs-

Gauges, steering wheel w/ disconnect, steering ujoint, brake pedal and 3/4" masters, magnaflow muffler, trans cooler, lots of fluid lines and fittings, fuel filter, fire sleeve for all the fluid lines, throttle pedal and cable, exhaust wrap,

PRP Comp High Back seats with the +4" height option. They are all pleather material, black on the back, black carbon fiber on the sides and charcoal carbon fiber in the center with silver piping. They also have some mesh where the butt section meets the back section so water wont collect in them.

PRP bench seat...38" wide, made with 3" taken out of the seat bottom for a little more leg room and the colors are the same as the front seats.

PRP 3" H style harnesses. the padding and chest buckle are standard...these things are NICE!

More to come......

E-fan harness, new motor harness, seat sliders, steering column

got the front rails in place along with a few other pieces. I have one of the nerf bars bent, just needs to be notched

I need to tear the truggy apart so I can get the motor set in between the rails to see if I will need to rotate them any. The tear down should start in a couple days.

Thanks guys, I glad to finally get started on it. It definitely wont be a fast build, but I will keep this thread updated.

:drinkers:

Brian

I have had the plans for about 2 years and I vow someday I will build me one of these buggies!! Looking forward to your build for sure man!!!----------Kyle

well, the time had finally come to start the tear down....very bitter sweet. The ole Z has been through alot since I bought it in 2001.
The first night we got the links, axles and shocks out.

Today we got the fuel drained, misc electrical stuff removed, heavy azz skid plate dropped, trans and tcases pulled, radiator/fan removed and all the wiring/plumbing removed to get the motor out.

Low rider!!

Tomorrow evening I plan on getting the engine pulled and the old chassis back to my house to be stored in my garage. Definitely nice to get some work done! Now that I have the drivetrain out, I can set them in the chassis for mock up so I can finalize the front frame rails. Should have some more build progress this week.

Brian

well, its stripped and now resides in my garage until it sells....

that is one long drivetrain......might consider selling off the doubler to get an atlas. I am gonna mess with the placement a little and see where the front axle is going to wind up before making a decision.

Brian

little update. Got the drivetrain mocked up last night and one the rock rails in place.

RIght now it is pretty much at full bump, right at 15" to the bottom of the belly pan. Ride height is around 23" and wheelbase is probably going to be 115-118. I like the stance so far.

Brian

subscribed. looks good, i have the same set of plans laying here that a buddy bought and never followed through with. will be keeping an eye on this one.
