• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

...This Project needs a name build..

I'm on vacation at the moment, but I'll try to get a pic when I get back.

Sounds good, looking forward to seeing what you did before I get into finalizing a plan.

Willwood proportioning valve installed, and bracket made. Now onto finishing the front line.

Now that the college football season is over I can get back at it:

I hate the way this looks...

My buddy is moving back to germany so I had to borrow his plasma cutter while the getting was good...

I really should have left the top part of the body panel on there and just cut down below it, I opened it up a lil bit more and moved the opening back 2.5 inches to match moving the axle back.

now I see why all the bondo is there..

I left the top part on this time, went down three inches and made a straight line, made this one fit like a glove:

bondo on this side as well..see what is under it tomorrow:

That Bondo is nothing. When I was working on nine I found at least that much Bondo over the top of some fiberglass that was used to patch a bunch of rust holes. :redneck:

Glad to see some more progress on it!

Bwahahahaha, I am sure to find more this weekend..and the replace it with good ole 'merican steel. :awesomework:

Cleared out the bondo on the corner. Passenger side is much worse. Found one dent right on the drivers side corner, should be easy to fix. Removed the rear sill and the cancer/bondo concotion that it consisted of. Have a few ideas for my bumper/rear sill/body mounts. Ended up using body filler to clean up a few little pin holes and what not from welding. Tomorrow I will weld in the passenger side fender and clean all of that up before moving onto the rear sill / bumper / body mounts.

Looking good!!

Not much done today. Passenger side is mostly welded in. Much cleaner job this time. As with almost everything in life, each time you do something you get better at it.

Heading to Cali for a few weeks on business, will get back at it when I get home. Presidents day weekend should be productive.

Meh...wiring crap..headlights (including dimmer switch), wipers, horn, hazzard, blinker switch, gauges, and dome light all done. Need to get a trailer wiring box for the rear and a LED timed flasher. Wire and install the actual marker lights, rear and front signal lights. Ignition cylinder is at a locksmith getting some keys made then i can put the entire steering column back together. Once I verify it all works I can tidy up the whole mess.

While the keys are being made I am finish the last three hard lines for the brakes as well as the extended axle breather line. I decided to run one of the lines through the engine mount instead of building a sheild for it. the mount should keep it out of the way of broken belts and other odd crap that might come loose under the bonnet :redneck:

A few things noticed. Brake line is just right. Sliders and fender are hitting not allowing things to line up..easy fix..rake some off the sliders. On to a more difficult decision..a monumental one at that..where do I put the signal lights (and yes I have amber ones)

Went old school, not perfect but they came out okay once I took them apart and cleaned/painted them how I wanted them. Most of the soft rubber grommets were long gone so reassembly is missing those. Just a quick post of one of them going back together.

Not exactly happy with the gap between the fender and the apron, but hey its a wheeler and not a show truck. Pretty much testfitting everything now for fit, wire length, grounds etc. Fender is not bolted to the front bib yet either. Once I am happy it will all come back apart for the final rattle can paint job.

I like it and have never really liked what Toyota did. Always looked like it was an after thought to me.

I like it, but something about a classic I guess..even if it was an after thought.

Nothing is permanent until it runs, charges, and does not catch fire. Let's see how far the wiring gets before the end of the next weekend.

The first pic of a box that will convert my wiring harness to the LED tail lights. The rest is just cleaning things up so I can finish the rest of the connections.
