    1973 FJ40

1973 Toyota FJ40 This is a serious off road rig that will drive on the roads fine depending on your state regulations, but is not a good choice for a restoration project. TBI Chevy 350 conversion, Aluminum radiator w/Taurus electric fan Monster TH350 auto transmission w/ Art Carr shifter 3...

    (4) 36” Iroks on 15” steel 6 bolt rims

If someone wants these, make me an offer. My buddy wants them out of his yard. Nothing wrong with them, just bought bigger tires. Willing to drop off to select locations between Seattle and Moab. Better yet, meet us in Moab, put them on your rig, and wheel with us in Moab for a couple days.

    (4) 36” Iroks on 15” steel 6 bolt rims

Set of 4 Bias ply Iroks on 6 bolt steel wheels plus mismatched spare on aluminum rim. 36x13.5x15 tires, rims are basic steel, Toyota bolt pattern. Spare is a 35" on a stock Toyota rim. Tires are in Seattle, I'm in Alaska. If you really want them we can figure something out. I will be driving...

    Best ifs setup for wheeling

Balljoint spacers up front, AAL for the rear springs, and a one inch body lift will be cheap, let you run 33's with minimal rubbing, and still keep it close to stock. The BJ spacers have an issue with stock rim backspacing and the tires will rub with 33x12.5. If you run 33x10.5 they usually...

    Your best 22re MPG

My 91 got around 28 mpg, kind of. It had 31" MTs and stock gears with locking hubs, 22re and 5 speed. The big boost in mileage was from a k& N FIPK and a complete Downey exhaust. The kind of part is that I was figuring mpg without the odometer difference from the bigger tires, but even if I...

    KM2's Real World Experience

Yesterday I got a chance to try out the new KM2's in mud. My initial opinion was that they suck. After a fun afternoon of pulling cable, my opinion didn't change. They don't seem to self clean, and for a mud terrain that's an automatic fail. They are a lot quieter on the road than the old...

I only noticed two, so you got more than half of them right.

    your oppion on tires

I've run them before. They work good in everything but snow. Sidewalls are too stiff to air down well without beadlocks. They also develop flat spots if they sit on pavement for a while, makes for a loud bouncy ride until they warm up if you plan on using them on the street.

With your tire size and gearing it sounds about right, it should be gutless.

Best way to lift the front of a 92 toyota

Ball joint spacers have nothing to do with ride, all they do is move the position of the wheel. Torsion bar adjustment will stiffen the ride but it also has more range, you can usually crank them until the A arm is hitting the bump stop. You may not get 3" of lift even doing both, BJ spacers...

Best way to lift the front of a 92 toyota

I have ball joint spacers on my 93 with a 1" body lift and the 33's fit with a little hammering. Probably as cheap as any other solution.

    Some battery info

It's tough to tell exactly what they use, there is not a lot of technical information on their site. There might be a way of using a separate regulator for battery charging and the included unit for the welder, but without seeing it it's just guessing. Also, the Odyssey batteries are another...

    Some battery info

The issue with AGM batteries, like the Optima, is that they want different charge voltages than gels or flooded batteries. I don't have any specific experience with the PPW alternators, but Dale mentioned 16v+ charge voltages, and most of the sealed batteries won't tolerate that high a voltage...

    Some battery info

I would bet that Dale fried his batteries with the very high voltages his system runs at, it's a common issue with the PPW gear. BTW you are quoting the wrong part of the FAQ on that site, they are actually pointing out that Optima batteries are NOT gel batteries and therefore don't suffer from...

    Some battery info

I do understand the differences, and it has nothing to do with "training" a battery, there is no such thing in this style battery. These work fine with a real charging system, but an automotive alternator with an internal regulator is about the crappiest "system" you can have. I agree with you...

    Some battery info

Gibby, what you want for your third battery is not an isolator, but a relay. I'm a DC electrician by trade and know what I'm talking about, unlike a lot of the folks giving advice on the interweb. PM or email me so I can get an idea of your whole system and I can get you a specific part number...

Boonie, Did you go climbing in one of the indoor gyms? My wife and I used to climb inside in the winter to stay in shape, but haven't been since we moved to Seattle. Here are a couple pics to remind you of times it's not raining and blowing 30. South Dakota Moab My wife in Idaho
