    Question for any transmission builders

This has to do with the 700R4 transmission. I have two potential donors to replace the transmission in my 1988 4.3l C1500 std cab long bed. This is a extra truck/parts chaser no heavy loads or towing and no long term plans to keep. First of all this is a truck I'm in to for about $300 so this...

    ECU question

Just recently posted a want ad for a Ford 5.8 ECU. Having a hard time finding a Speed Density 5.8 ECU with manual trans application. Since Pick-n-Pull is having their 50% off sale I figure I'd chance using a computer from an automatic. 1. I've run an OBD1 Jeep 4.0 auto computer with both auto...

    Maual valve body?

I use the TransGo stage 2 in the 727 I have. Kind of a hybrid version that holds 1st and 2nd but allows auto shifting in drive. I still think about going full manual but haven't justified the expense yet. I thought I saw something on the IntardWeb a few years back about being able to modify the...

    Headliner material

You could try calling Foam & Fabric on 84th (i think) between Park & Yakima. It's right across the street from the school there. They MAY have it, but a phone call will save a wasted drive.

    Bolts?

Any fastner has a finite fatiuge (sp) life. Every loose/tight cycle weakens the bolt, can't help it.

Q's about my brakes. Help me get it right the first time

IIRC correctly your pics showed the stock manual master cylinder. I had the same setup before I did a hydroboost swap from an Astro van. I used the booster and MC from the astro, shortened the push rod, a couple of hydraulic lines from the local NAPA. Used a ZJ 4-wheel Disk combo valve and done...

    See Jay Slevin

It's been up and running for a couple years now, maybe i just worded wrong. I've run three different transmissions so far (T5, 999, 727) and am thinking of changing again. Biggest reason I used the CPS relocation from Hesco, didn't want to redo a bellhousing everytime I switched trannys. BTW I...

    See Jay Slevin

So as far as you can tell just the fouled injectors...not too bad. They always run rough until the PCM has a chance to re-learn. I'm on a CJ only forum where they have some 4.0 swap guru's if you run into problems in the future. I can fo-sho feel your pain with the wiring part here's what mine...

What ended up being the problem with the 4.0 swap? Just curious as I did a 4.0 in my '7 and am always collecting info for reference.

    sami rotors

I can check my notebook to see what year i used but i think 90% (if not all) are the same part #. They only cost like $16 each new (once again IIRC) did the swap some time ago and alot of the little details I forget, hence the notebook somewhere in the garage. I do know that everyone who's...

    sami rotors

Before you lathe anything try a set of sidekick rotors.

    sami rotors

I did disk brakes on the back of my AMC M20 with sidekick rotors and rear calipers from a nissan (forget the application) the "hat" size on the sidekick rotors is a little bigger IIRC. I had no machining or grinding to make them fit. The earliest write up I know of is on pirate but many of the...

    help with wiring harness

Ugh...lucky the whole truck didn't go up in flames. Any idea what caused the melydown in the first place? Any hi-wattage **** like lights or stereos?

    Brake booster not working?

    Hydroboost!!! :stirpot: :corn:

    Hydro fittings?

I think you were talking to the wrong person at NAPA. Not like that ever happens. I went in for some 3/8" soft steel compression sleeves and the guy said I couldn't buy them separate, had to buy the whole fitting. I tried to convince him I get them all the time and he couldn't figure it...

    Hot rod action.

I have three daughters so my only hope is one of them (at least) catches the bug and wants to get into building jeeps & cars. My money's on the middle one, she's only four and loves to help me work on ****. We'll see if that last for any length of time. Nice work Brad, every young builder...

    Who knows inner tubes?

I would think so, usually tubes list a range of sizes they are usable on.

    Need shafts for rear 44

Biggest issue the OP hasn't filled us in on is whether or not it's a factory (e.g. scout, early CJ, waggy) axle that will take off the shelf replacements (OEM or aftermarket) or a custom cut/length axle that needs a custom shaft to go with it. Prices will vary accordingly.

need help tuning a Webber carb?

Don't take this the wrong way I'm not trying to be an ass but ditch it and run a motorcraft 2100 w/1.08 venturis. Webbers are fine once they are dialed in but I'm on a CJ only forum as well and alot of guys get fed up with the webber before they get it right. Haveing said all that, did you buy...
