So I found a trans in monroe for $50, noisey in 5th gear. I have never rebuilt a transmission before, how hard would it be to either replace the reverse gear in mine or replace 5th gear in the other one?

So I'm gonna be looking to buy a diesel in the next couple months, and I love the cummins, but I'm obviously not too keen on the auto trannys. I have heard the phrase "bulletproof" used in reference to these trannys a number of times. What work is done to these trannys to make them stronger...

so i thru my t-case on saturday and installed my 4.7 gears. everything went according to plan, except i think i might have installed my shift rails backwards. i have all the range selections, it shifts just fine, except my t-case shifer is back probably 2 or 3 inches from where it used to be...
